Crash Data Retrieval Services
“Black Box” Download Services
MDA provides “black box” downloads for passenger vehicles and “ECM” downloads for commercial vehicles across North America
The black box is a device installed in some automobiles which records information related to vehicle crashes or accidents. The original intent of the installation of this device was to record the information which leads to the deployment decision of the air bag supplemental restraint systems. Information from these devices can be collected after a crash and analyzed to to determine what a vehicle was doing during, before and after a crash or event.
The data from the deployment event has proven to be highly useful to accident reconstructions as it provides very detailed information regarding:
- Vehicle speed at impact
- Magnitude of impact
- Seat belt usage
This important information reveals the reality of the crash data and must be retrieved on all important cases. MDA experts are equipped to download data from all vehicles that are “black box” equipped.
Additionally, MDA have the necessary training in crash data retrieval to interpret the download data reports and advise you accordingly.
